Rainbow in my Room

General Rainbow Information

When the sunlight hits the droplets of water from the mist, dew, or rain and it’s caused when the light enters the surface of the raindrop and reflects off the back of the raindrop, and again refracted as it is emitted from the drop.  The entire effect is that the light coming in is reflected over various angles and produces the rainbow.  One of the most spectacular rainbows is caused by ocean water because it is generally smaller than others but much more intense.

One of the most exciting view is a double rainbow, when it appears that a second rainbow is formed over the primary rainbow, and it’s cause by a second reflection, and what even more interesting is that the colors are reversed in the second rainbow; the red on the inside of the arch with the violet on the upper side.  Notice that there’s a darker area between the two.  And on extremely rare occasions, a third and even fourth rainbow can be seen, but are very hard to spot.

How the Inside Rainbow Works

When the rainbow is turned on with the batteries, it is automatically cut off after about ten minutes, but running on outlet power, it will remain lit all night.  What a beautiful way for a small one to fall asleep.
